New amendment to Sindh LG Act
An amendment to the act calls for monitoring of local government representatives by the Sindh government
A second amendment to the act passed into law on Wednesday was in accordance with an earlier Supreme Court verdict ordering election of local government representatives ─ including mayor, deputy mayor, chairman and vice chairman ─ through secret ballot instead of a show of hands within 60 days.

The Sunday Blog # 3
Tonight So much is going on in Karachi that the sound of loud Music and fireworks may be making some very edgy.
But me i am cool and since this is my third Sunday Blog without any roka (stopping) it means that i'll have to do it every sunday for as long as i can.
Interesting week this has been the queen of England and wales her majesty the queen Elizabeth turned 90 . well honestly she does not look a day older than 70 . So here i am everytime i watch a pirated copy of a hindi movie it begins with a warning " smoking and alcohol is injurious to health." followed by a very loud advertisement elaborating that warning .
Ayyan was not able to leave for dubai second week in a row. There is no clue as to what or who is stopping her now. Oh yes the prime minister is now associated with the promotion of a very popular swiss brand of watches after he release his photo shopping in london soon after he returned and did a Merey aziz hum watno...on live television and promised to resign if found guilty. Well i am not at all interested in this rhetoric and gimmicks called politics . what appears certain is that he is not the man anymore hired to loot and plunder the wealth from pakistani people and stash it somewhere safe. Army has suggested some names lets see if the hiring agency considers them seriously.
The Pakistan Cup of Cricket failed to attract the interest .
Do you know there is an island country just 10 hr flight away from karachi . Don't tell me you haven't seen the lisa haydon's 2014 comedy Shaukeens . it was partly filmed in the beautiful island of Mauritius which has a very colourful flag. Its president who happens to be a teach as well as biodiversity scientist in addition to being a commander in chief of the republic and a mother of two , visited karachi . She appears to be more relaxed and at home than most of us .
Talking of Teach the Disney animated movie i watched last night : "The Secret of the Wings " is so amazing that if a child watches it in the cradle and understand everything by twelve only poetry can slow him/her down. Iqbal's poetry did that for me very many years ago . He then introduced me to other greats the ones that inspired him or pricked him. If it wasn't him i may have never even open the hafiz in my papa's library or the amazing English poets like Chaucer and Spenser in the poetry section of British council library together they gave my mind the cruise control . This week i am so delighted to receive an email invite to join the library again as they are about to reopen soon. I wish them the very best of luck and beg for their continued support and guidance for me and for the city of Karachi .
Okay so now i end my Sunday blog reminding that a heat wave is predicted ....it wasn't that bad throughout the week or maybe because i was lucky to stay indoors without load shedding and also changed my dietary habits , i did not feel the severe hot weather. But i do hope and pray that Karachi remains cool this summer .
Here is one of my all time favourite . Enjoy
