Cable operators end country-wide strike, resume services
Cable operators end country-wide strike, resume services
Cable Operators
on Tuesday announced the end of their country-wide strike and resumption
of cable services, said Cable Operator Association leader Khalid Arain.
The operators had suspended their services on Monday in
various parts of the country following a strike call after the refusal
from Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) to postpone
the auction of Direct-to-Home (DTH) service licences.
The
Lahore High Court also issued a stay order on Tuesday to halt the
auctioning of Direct-to-Home (DTH) licences which was scheduled to be
held on November 23, reported DawnNews.
Pemra Chairman
Absar Aalam, however, indicated that the auction of DTH licence services
will be held as per announced schedule in accordance with the earlier
orders of the supreme court .
"DTH is an inevitable
platform for progress in media services and SC had instructed Pemra not
to halt auctioning of the DTH licences," said Absar Alam.
The
Pemra chairman also revealed that licences are allotted under a
transparent system and licences will not be allotted to any company
which do not have more than 49 per cent shares in Pakistan.
"The
ones who are opposing and running campaigns against DTH, the ones who
have approached the courts, had never opposed Indian DTH," added Alam.
While talking to media persons, Absar Alam also said,"Business of cable operators will not be affected by introduction of DTH."
While
commenting on the stance of Pakistan Broadcasters Association (PBA),
the Pemra chairman revealed that PBA had recommended in the court to
introduce the DTH as soon as possible.
"Cable operators do not have any reason for strike and I wish they had opposed the Indian DTH in the same way," he said.
"In
light of the apex court's decision, cable operators do not have the
right to halt access of Pakistanis to DTH service," he added.
Unlike
the traditional cable connections, DTH service is a digital setup that
broadcasts channels directly to homes from satellite using small dish
antennas
Pemra on November 12 had shortlisted 12
companies for participation in the first auction on November 23 for DTH
service licences.
The shortlisted companies are:
- Orient Electronics (Lahore)
- Mag Entertainment (Lahore)
- Skyflix (Islamabad)
- Startimes Communications (Islamabad)
- Sardar Builders (Islamabad)
- Smart Sky (Islamabad)
- Parus Media and Broadcast (Islamabad)
- Naya Tel (Islamabad)
- Maestro Media Distribution (Islamabad)
- Shahzad Sky (Islamabad)
- HB DTH (Islamabad)
- IQ Communications (Karachi)

Sunny Leone to star in Mahira, SRK's 'Raees'
it is believed that the former porn actress will dance with SRK on the beat of the 1980's chart topper "Laila O Laila" . This is not unusual in most hindi movies to add a song with a hotie and does not undermine the role of Mahira K in anyway maybe ....let's see....the other day i was watching himesh reshmyyan 's Teraa Surroor and i noticed that media has been giving all credit to the new comer farah Karimi when i believe the song was picturized on an unknown russian model Tressa or something ....

‘Ishq Forever’ banned in Pakistan
Ishq Forever
2016 film
Ishq
Forever is a 2016 upcoming Bollywood romantic drama musical film
directed by Sameer sippy. It will feature newcomer Krishna Chaturvedi as
the male lead and the female lead is Ruhi Singh. The film is slated to
be released on 19 February 2016. Wikipedia
Initial release: February 19, 2016
Genres: Bollywood, Romance Film, Musical, Drama film
KARACHI: The Sameer Sippy-directed romantic drama, Ishq Forever has been banned by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) in Pakistan.
“The CBFC panel had reviewed the film and found the content to be objectionable,” chairperson of CBFC, Mobasher Hasan, told The Express Tribune.
According to Hasan, the movie had been deemed unsuitable for release by the initial CBFC panel comprising five members. After the distributor of the film appealed for the film to be reviewed again by another panel, the movie was forwarded to a CBFC committee comprising ten independent members.
“The ten-member-panel unanimously decided to ban Ishq Forever, citing the fact that the film is tarnishing the image of Islam and Muslims,” added the CBFC Chairman.
Although, even Sanjay Leela’s Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani was deemed “against Islam” initially, the film was eventually released after a few cuts. When asked why they didn’t undertake a similar approach with Ishq Forever, Hasan responded that unlike Bajirao Mastani’s case – these cuts would have affected the film’s story.
The CBFC is not the only censor board to have banned the release of the movie in Pakistan with both the Punjab Board of Film Certification (PBFC) and Sindh Board of Film Certification (SBFC) also taking similar measures, stated Hasan.
The CBFC has also informed Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) of their decision, and requested cable operators to not screen the film.
When approached for comment, an official of PBFC corroborated the film’s ban in Punjab whereas representatives of SBFC were not available to confirm the ban.
Sonam Kapoor-starrer Neerja suffered a similar fate recently. Even though the movie was not banned, it had its import authorisation certificate revoked by the commerce ministry of Pakistan.
Expected to release on February 19, Ishq Forever features an ensemble cast of actors Lisa Ray, Ruhi Singh, Javed Jaffrey and Krishna Chaturvedi.
