ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Electronic
Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has announced to ban reenactment TV
programs of crime scenes from the beginning of Ramadan 2016.
PEMRA chairman Absar Alam stated Friday
that TV programs showing reenactment of crime scenes shall be banned
from 1st of Ramadan, adding that action shall be taken against all
channels that violate regulations.
He was addressing a press conference in Islamabad.
While talking to media, Absar Alam
stated that rape victims, murder and suicide scenes will be banned to be
on-aired on television from first of Ramadan.
He stated that any television channel
found violating the rules shall be initially shut down for a month,
however if the channel repeats the offence then a case shall be
forwarded to PEMRA authority to permanently shut it down.
