Shahbaz Taseer recovered from Balochistan after 5 years
QUETTA: The son of slain former Punjab governor Salman Taseer, Shahbaz Taseer, was recovered by security and intelligence forces from Balochistan’s Kuchlak area on Tuesday, nearly five years after his abduction in 2011.“Intelligence agencies have recovered Shahbaz Taseer from an area near Kuchlak, Balochistan,” said a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
He has now been shifted from Kuchlak to Quetta and is reportedly in stable condition, a security official told Dawn.com. Doctors were also called to conduct a medical checkup, he added.
Interior Minister Chuadhary Nisar Ali Khan informed the Senate that “Shahbaz Taseer has been recovered”.
Briefing the Senate about National Action Plan, he said, “I have just received information regarding recovery of Salman Taseer's son.”
Nisar said he would share more information after getting details from the authorities concerned.
Kuchlak (or Kuchlagh) is a town near Quetta, in the province of Balochistan, Pakistan. It is governed by a union council in Chiltan Town, Quetta. Kuchlak is home to Halaqa Number 61, one of the largest halaqas in Quetta. Kuchlak is well known for summer fruits such as apples and peaches; however, soil aridity is a problem. Vegetables grown in the valley include tomatoes, potatoes, onions and turnips.
