The Sunday Blog # 9

  

Today is the 5th of June 2016 and this is my Sunday Blog # 9 . Ever since i started to read and  understand English I had the Daily Dawn every day in the morning every morning . One of the regular features of daily dawn is the Reflections the sayings of Hazrat Ali (k.a.w) . Over the years the format of this daily newspaper has changed many times but somehow they have kept the reflection somewhere where i can't miss.  The sayings of Ali are often repeated . I never tried to break the puzzle or find the correlation with the daily or weekly events because the wisdom of these quotes always fascinates me no matter how many times i hear or read them. Just like this one very often repeated ,

Only he who has the power to punish can pardon.

So in daily life we often see that a bully hurts you or someone you know very bad and then under moral or religious obligations you have to forgive and try to forget. Or else face certain sanctions and wrath of the people and Power . Hazrat Ali , my head under his feet in this world and in the next , denies. 

This biggest news this week is that the unthinkably rich and famous Honorable Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Mohammad Nawaz Sharif had a successful open heart surgery in an undisclosed expensive clinic in London by some unknown very expensive heart experts. The people of Pakistan regardless of pit-hole they dwell in or the amount of debt they swim in , Prayed for success of his operation . World leaders send their greetings and wishes. 

Before going to the hospital the then Prime Minister of Pakistan chaired a cabinet meeting through Skype ( it use to be a digital audio/video communications app very popular in the 20 10's ) in Islamabad from the Pakistan High Commission in London. Mr Prime Minister seem very confident in the live telecast of his speech from that meeting. It was very different from the live superimpose we are use to by  the infamous delinquent and indecent Don of Karachi living in London for two decades on the honest after tax and expenses income of Betal nuts , pan leaves , and refined tobacco chews. 

Anyway, in that meeting he unofficially handed over some of his responsibilities to his Partner in Crime and Samdi jee the father in law of his other daughter and also the finance minister in his cabinet. The cabinet and the CM's of provinces agreed. Mr Dar presented the Budget proposals thus approved by the Prime Minister and the cabinet in that meeting on Friday evening. The Awesome weather in karachi is missed ever since . There has been two high profile fires after budget. One in the elitist British Mall at the seaview beach in Clifton and the other in the Engineering Department of PIA no idea where that is at and why. 

The Other Notorious Daughter of the Prime Minister Of Pakistan was probably locked in the family Estate here in Pakistan with her Paternal Grand Mother and a Mobile Phone under direct directions of the minister of Control Room Interiors.

Being a very proud Karachite  does not mean that i fall for the extortionist rhetoric of the 70% revenue generating city of Pakistan. I would never let go of Pakistan even if Her Majesty's Government breaks the candy jar. Besides most of the 70% not sure how much comes back to karachi in the form of pays and pensions and the provincial grants. Also it is very foolish to believe that if someone can generate so much for me it cannot do a little for itself. 

 

About the present budget being debated in the Parliament i believe it is a very logical budget . Most spenders in the country don't use computers, laptops anymore instead millions use Mobiles ,dairy products,  betal nuts , leaves and watch foreign tv shows. 

About the indirect taxation well there was a time we were broke and going nuke so we needed lots of funds and the IMF was fucking so i supported the indirect taxation. But now things have changed. They need to rely more on direct taxation than indirect. Its Funny that people on support like the old age benefits, pensioners and Benazir Income Support beneficiaries etc have to pay about 25 - 30 % indirect taxes every time they recharge their mobile phone balance or buy groceries and medicines. even ice creams and snacks .Horrible and Unfair.

 Our dear merciful Lord has made it mandatory to pay the poor only 2.5 % zakat . Interesting Since before Shaukat Aziz saabs macro economics nobody paid the 10% taxes So i believe that this 2.5 % zakat that Mr Zia enforced on poor man's saving gave him the cruise control until the "Peanuts" arrived and blew up his Plane. wama alaina illal balaagh ul mubeen. 

The successive anti - Zia regimes have since amended the constitution of the Islamic Republic . and abolished his name and some of the doings like 58(2)b and whipping . Zakat survived but with exemptions for minorities or anybody who don't want to. The Thing that i absolutely adore about the innocent god fearing rich and poor Pakistanis is that they are very keen about paying Zakat. May the All Mighty Allah be pleased with them the ones before them and their coming generations. 

Since Pakistan Army and the Forces and Bahria town has made the nation very proud in the zarb-e-Azb and in other areas of responsibility i suggest that all zakat deducted from here onwards should go to their welfare funds.  And i am also very much in favor of the increase in defense budget.  

Another very important debate every year is about the small education budget and the sarcasm of comparison with other fields and countries. I honestly believe that Education is Not a Fundamental right. the constitution has to be amended to make freedom to choose  whether a citizen wants it or not  guaranteed. Education in Pakistan is now a Full-fledged money making industry. It Has to be taxed and regulated. 

Enough of this hard talk lets move on to this weeks Movies that i watched. 

The Perfect Sense is a really awesome movie . a perfect 10 * rating from me. others were just ok . watch if you don't have anything better.
